Spiritual Songs (Classic Reprint)

Description

Excerpt from Spiritual Songs The first Hymn, and the last four (two of which were finished, the other two being fragments), were found among Mr. Darby's papers, after his depar ture. One of these fragments is most interesting, as an example of his sympathy with children, which was such a sweet trait in his character. The first Hymn was quite unknown till thus found. Now, however, that the Lord's faithful servant is no longer with us, there is no further reason for its being withheld. This Collection will afford rich enjoyment and blessing to every spiritual mind 5 but the Hymns being the free utterance of what the heart learned with God, are without that careful finish that would have been given to mere composition. This, however, increases their reality, and, hence, their attractiveness, for all who will appreciate their intrinsic excellence. On giving the ms. Book of his later Hymns to the Editor, the Author said There is one thing in all those: they are real. They are not composed perhaps one. Hymns such as these will only be profitably read when, in communion of spirit, careful perusal and meditation are bestowed.
